The PCB ‘12 Album

A PCB scrapbook

The Spring of 2013 I began working on my vacation album for our trip to PCB, Panama City Beach, the previous fall.  I had recently discovered Kathy Orta and her amazing work as the Paper Phenomenon.  Inspired, I decided to use her Filed Under M for Memories tutorial to create the album for this project.  It actually went together fairly easily for me and I had almost all of it done by the end of our retreat in early November.

And then it sat.  And sat.  And gathered dust.  And sat.  I just didn’t have any desire to work much on it.  *One little side note here: I had not discovered sookwang tape when I put this thing together.

You can imagine my disappointment when I finally did pick this thing up again to discover that much of it was coming apart.  After a large sigh, I began putting bits back together as best I could.  The hinge system had completely separated from the spine and I didn’t know how to tackle that so I left it alone for a long time.  I went ahead and finished the album and matting my photos before I even thought about the spine.  Eventually, I did come up with a solution.  I used my bonefolder as a sort of guide (like a sewing needle) to thread strips of tape into the gap between the hinges and the spine.  It worked wonderfully.  I laid the album down flat and burnished, burnished, burnished.  So far, so good.  It’s still holding.  Yay!

Here’s the (mostly) finished product.  I still have some journaling and last little embellishments to add but for the most part, it is DONE.  Hope you like it!

I’ve added a video tour here if you’d like to see how the pages flip through.  It’s a very interactive album!

*note- I get my instagrams printed at Kanvess.  The quality is superb and shipping is fairly quick.  Great service!
