Nutrition 101…

HSCrew468x60

logo-new-scriptureHealth is another neglected area of our homeschool.  I mean we do cover this some in science but I’m sure I don’t give it the attention it deserves.  Nutrition 101: Choose Life!  is more than just a health curriculum though.  It addresses some very real issues we struggle with in today’s American culture.  From the Growing Healthy Homes website…

Nutrition 101 CDROM

“Nutrition 101: Choose Life! is a three-in-one family nutrition and health program for all ages that presents the major body systems, how they function, their common health issues, the benefits of good food and the consequences of bad food.”

The curriculum is a 448 page book($99.95) or cd-rom($79.95) broken down into 6 units.  I like this program because it’s not just a “this is what’s healthy” or “this is health” kinda book.  Kids learn the ins and outs of how their food choices affect their bodies.  You spend time as a family learning, playing and preparing healthy meals from the over 80 recipes included.  It’s about learning a way of life and care for your person, not just ‘health’.

I like that we are challenged to try new things with this program.  Things we would never purchase because most often, we just don’t know anything about these new foods.  Come to find out, some of them are really good!  Imagine that; healthy meals we like!  🙂

Nutrition 101: Choose Life! is a biblically based program that is engaging for the whole family and actually fun to work through.  The kids hardly see it as school but rather as a fun project they ‘get’ to do.

With the state of America’s health and belly, I’d love to see this program in every home.  I know just as many adults that would benefit from is as their kids!
