Hidden Treasures Trunk

*A Paper Phenomenon project – from the EKC10

Products used:

  • medium weight chipboard
  • Tim Holtz Idea-ology Paper Stash 12×12 – Wallflower
  • cardstock – toffee
  • large brads
  • metal closure and hinges ( you can find something similar on Etsy or in the Paper Phenomenon trinket shop
  • Hitch fasteners (Tim Holtz or Kaisercraft)
  • Kaisercraft Treasures Handles
  • small (approx. 3/4”) magnets and thin metal washers
  • Scor-tape – 1/2” and 1/4”
  • Aileen’s Quick Dry Tacky Glue
  • Distress Ink – Walnut Stain
  • Distress Stain – Walnut Stain
  • Glossy Accents

The Mini Album

This is the mini album I made to go in the Hidden Treasures trunk.  I followed the construction details from the EKC tutorial, but I changed up the embellishing as I filled the album.  This was my first time using Tyvek to reinforce the spine.  I will probably continue to use it as long as I have it around.

Products used:

    • chipboard
    • Tyvek
    • Aileen’s Quick Dry Tack Glue
    • Scor-tape – 1/2” & 1/4”
    • ATG gun and 1/2” tape
    • corner rounder
    • decorative corner punch
    • cardstock – toffee, black, navy, pale pink, and gold
    • Tim Holtz Idea-ology Wallflower stash
    • Kaisercraft Captured Moments Life’s Treasures 3×4 and 4×6 journal cards
    • Kaisercraft Flourishes Wooden Paperclips
    • Lost & Found Record it! bradsDistress ink – Walnut Stain and Black Soot

Still working on my video setup.  I’ll try to have that all fixed before I make my next one.  =)  You will notice in the first video there is a small clipboard album in the top compartment of the trunk.  This was made using all the same papers as the trunk, a Tim Holtz clipboard piece, and hitch fasteners.  I also used Kaisercraft Flourishes square wooden letters – discover.

This was a great project for learning how to make better boxes.  I learned a lot about constructing them well and I’m glad I did.  My next project requires several boxes and drawers and I can already see a difference in the first 8 I’ve made so far.You can find a tutorial and videos for this album and trunk from Paper Phenomenon in the digital EKC10 membership.
