why i love winter…

why i love winter…

look what i spied smiling at the sun this morning the first flax flower.  I planted these seeds last year and never saw more than tall sprigs.  At one point, I thought the poor thing was a goner when I’d gone out of town and forgot to leave instructions for its care.  but with a little love and care… they greened back up.  and finally after months and months of waiting I got this beautiful gift.  sometimes i feel dried up like my little flax flower, all brown and ... continue reading...

Christian Keyboarding…

One of THE most important skills I learned in school was how to type.  In middle school I took a computer class and in high school I took 3 more years of word processing and typing.  This skill has become such an invaluable thing to me in my adult life.  I’d even put it pretty close Math and definitely higher than Phys. Bertie, as the girl is often called, spends her days staving off panic and anxiety by immersing herself in pretend play and imagination. Worry and fear drive her very being until one day, she’s forced to confront her deepest terror and ... continue reading...

Nutrition 101…

Health is another neglected area of our homeschool.  I mean we do cover this some in science but I’m sure I don’t give it the attention it deserves.  Nutrition 101: Choose Life!  is more than just a health curriculum though.  It addresses some very real issues we struggle with in today’s American culture.  From the Growing Healthy Homes website…    “Nutrition 101: Choose Life! is a three-in-one family nutrition and health program for all ages that ... continue reading...
