A new way to learn…

We began using the Madsen Method on Thursday.  Friday was a no-school day for us so today was our second lesson.  I think there’s always a little bit of a challenge when you’re starting something new or different.  Abigail is a very stubborn child in some ways.  Not to speak harshly about my child just to bad mouth her; she is very independent and will insist she do things her way rather than any other way, even (or especially) when instructed to do things another way.  It’s okay.  We’re learning.

We are reviewing the Madsen Method for the Old Schoolhouse Review Crew.  I believe this review will be different from the others we’ve done.  Mr. Madsen was kind enough to send us the entire Part One of the curriculum.  He also spent over an hour on the phone with me to help me better understand and know how to teach the method.  I’m very thankful to Mr. Madsen for his kindness.

Today we did lesson two.  The kids are learning not only the material taught but also discipline and structure.  I know this is something we need.

Even with a few tears, this is a great school day.
