Mondays…

photo by Hey HeyWoot!  Woot!  It’s Monday, peoples!  I love Mondays.  To me, Mondays represent everything fresh and clean about the world.  Monday is the perfect time to ‘put off the old self’ and start anew.  Leave behind all the baggage and stress of the past and remember that God’s mercies are new every day.  That as Jesus followers we are being sanctified continually and no matter how badly you’re going to ‘mess up’ today, you’re still more sanctified than you were last week.

So.  If last week left you with a heavy load to drag through this week, I encourage you to lay it down at the foot of the cross.  Rest awhile there.                     Then take up your cross while Christ carries your burdens for you.  Remember that Jesus says, “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

I encourage you to take this brand new day and run with it.  Be willing to leave your burdens behind.  Be willing to “learn from Jesus” who is gentle and lowly in heart. Be willing to take up your cross and follow Him wherever He leads you.  What an adventure awaits you!  You have NO idea how the Lord will bless you this week.  But I guarantee if you can only see your burdens and are too busy dragging them through the days, you’ll never see the blessing and you will miss an opportunity to thank your heavenly father who loves you with gracious perfect love.

If you belong to Christ you are more than a conqueror of tribulation, and distress, and persecution, and famine, and nakedness, and danger, and sword…  through Him who loves you.  He carries those burdens way better than you do.  Let them go.

Father I pray that as we begin a new week our minds will be fixed on how we might glorify you.  Make our problems small to us.  Make loving each other and loving you big to us.  In 5 years, these troubles that worry us so much today will be long forgotten.  Help us to remember this when anxiety creeps in.  Our days and troubles are fleeting but you, oh Lord, are steadfast and forever.  May we also remain steadfast in our faith.  In Christ’s name, Amen.

I’ve always felt that way about Mondays — it’s nice to know I’m not the only one. Thanks for putting into words so beautifully. It’s a great reminder to us all!
